#3 Jesus on Every Page
How to use the book:
Is it possible to “find” Jesus on every page?
In my Bible study, A Great Cloud of Witnesses, I write,
“It has been said that a scarlet cord runs throughout the Bible. This phrase can be summed up basically as all roads lead to Jesus. The Old Testament to the New Testament is ultimately about Jesus. Writing about the relationship between the Old Testament and the New Testament, pastor Burk Parsons writes:
That doesn’t mean, however, that Jesus is hiding under every stone in the Old Testament, nor does it mean hat we need to overturn every stone in our pursuit to find Him at the cost of sound exegesis. Nevertheless, it does mean that every stone points to Christ and beckons us to examine the manifold ways in which Christ is in the foreground and background of the landscape of every stone in all the Scriptures, by God’s sovereign orchestration and for our redemption in Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
During your daily reading, I ask you to look for Jesus on the page. First, if you don’t see anything, there’s a chance there’s nothing there and you can move on. However, it’s likely that we see a sign of redemption, mercy, and justice. We will surely see an aspect of our reading that Jesus fulfills and clear prophecy that points to Jesus. Look for it and write it down.
